After viewing the copy of the actual email, one has to wonder what motivated Madison to lobby Dave Cortese office to prevent passing the resolution recognizing the Vietnamese-American Freedom and Heritage Flag. Read the words in the email carefully. Why Madison was so adamently stretched that entire Vietnamese community and various groups should have a saying before the vote? Madison went as far as requesting a "panel" to decide what to do next and what the resolution should and should not say. She made up all kind of excuses to prevent passing a resolution recognizing the flag. Once Madison got elected to the council seat, she operated without any input from her constituents or communities in general. Naming Saigon Business District on the one smile block of Story Road was a big deal and Madison knew it. She knew it's a big subject matter among Vietnamese-American communities within San Jose and surround neighboring cities. She knew it well, that's why she tried her best to hide her action from the public. She didn't care about Vietnamese communities input or input from anyone else other wealthy developer, Lap Tang. Why didn't she form a "panel" to handle this issue as she suggested prior to the Flag resolution vote? This resolution have a full support from the council members and local Vietnamese leaders were deeply involve in crafted the Resolution. Why she lobbied against passing it? It's about self-serve.
